OFFICE POLICIES

Appointments:

  • Each appointment is designed to deal with one specific problem. If you have more than one problem to discuss please bring a list to the doctor, who can help you decide which is the most important. The doctor will also advise you if time allows discussion of more than one problem, or if you will need to book further appointments.

  • Some appointments take longer than expected and urgent matters also may arise. We thank you for your patience when this occurs.

  • Medical Services Plan (MSP) does not cover all medical services – Please see Uninsured Services for more information.

Cancellations & Missed Appointments:

  • Please notify us as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your appointment, so another patient may be accommodated in that time slot.

  • Despite our best efforts, we all forget appointments at times. However, any missed appointments may result in a fee at the discretion of your doctor..

Prescription Refills:

  • Prescriptions will only be prescribed by appointment with your family doctor.

  • In general, prescriptions are written with refills in appropriate quantities such that running out of medications usually indicates that it is time to see your doctor. Please book an appointment at least one week prior to running out. This is to ensure your medical condition(s) are monitored appropriately.

  • Whether or not telephone or fax prescriptions are provided is at the discretion of your doctor. However, it is in your best interest to book an appointment to renew your prescriptions.

Test Results:

  • The doctor or staff will call you if you need to come in to discuss results or have a follow up appointment.

  • Typically, we do not call back patients if results are normal.

  • If you are concerned about your results, and would like to discuss them further, please book an appointment with your doctor.

  • In general, we discourage telephone communication to discuss medical problems. Telephone discussions and advice are provided at the discretion of your doctor.

Cell Phone Use:

  • Please be respectful of other patients and staff in the clinic by turning your cell phone to silent and stepping outside for phone calls.
