Practice Update Oct 20th, 2025 – Dr Jonker
Due to a shortage of physicians within the Nanaimo area and particularly within long-term care facilities, Dr Jonker has made the difficult decision to increase his time providing care in these high need facilities. This has led to unacceptably long wait times for primary care appointments. To ensure he is able to continue to provide timely care, Dr Jonker will be restricting his practice to only those residing in Nanaimo. Letters were mailed out to patients with addresses outside this region on Friday October 24th. If you received a letter – we are providing some information below:
How can I obtain my records?
Please contact the office and we will have you complete a record request form. The cost for a complete copy of your records on USB drive is $50.00. If you have a new physician, that office will have you sign a record transfer form and send it to our office to complete.
How do I get on the Health Connect Registry?

Retirement update March 28, 2025
Dr. Gwen Bruce-Houle will be retiring on June 27, 2025 after 40 years in practice. Letters are being sent via Medeo messaging as well as by mail with details.
Unfortunately, she has not been able to find a new physician to take over her practice; therefore, we urge you to begin searching for a new doctor. You can do this by:
- Visiting the Pathways Medical Directory (pathwaysmedicalcare.ca)
- Contacting HealthLink BC using 8-1-1 toll-free number (or 7-1-1 if you are hearing impaired) or visiting their website at healthlinkbc.ca.
- Contacting your local Divisions of Family Practice (divisonsbc.ca), as some are establishing physician directories.
- Visiting a local walk-in clinic or Urgent Primary Care Centre (UPCC). UPCCs also serve as primary care clinics for people who do not have a regular primary care provider and will work to connect them to a primary care clinic as space is available.
- Asking friends and family for recommendations.
To request your medical records please email the clinic at: info @ pacificstationmed.ca. Record requests will be completed after Dr Bruce-Houle’s last date worked so that you receive a complete file. There is a cost of $48.00 to transfer records.
